Our Mission

Our mission at GeoBus is to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment that provides equitable access to STEM opportunities for all students, regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds. We strive to inspire a passion for science and exploration while fostering diverse voices in the scientific community. By offering free educational experiences, we aim to empower the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.

Our Motivation

Riley and Gerard began their work together in September 2019 teaching in classrooms in the Bronx for New York City Public Schools.

We established our nonprofit, Geobus Inc. in September of 2024. Our purpose is to bring geoscience resources to underprivileged students across New York City, free of charge. Geoscience and environmental sciences are notoriously neglected in science education, but are becoming more relevant every year. Furthermore, earth science is woefully homogenous in terms of the people who study it. Our aim is to bring relevance and resources from earth and environmental science fields to students who might not otherwise have access to them.

Our Long Term Goals ….

We plan to remodel a fleet of retired school buses into mobile laboratories that can bring science resources directly to schools. Our team will include experts with a background in both geoscience and education to deliver relevant lab activities and instruction to students from kindergarten through high school. We hope to provide school day single-lesson activities, afterschool and summer programming, and classes for college credit with our mobile labs.
